How can I use a part number to search for additional information in an electronic parts catalog?

A part number within an illustration is linked to its corresponding entry in a parts list. Simply click on the number using your mouse.

Keep in mind that viewing part numbers within a parts list does not help much if the user does not know the specific part hiding behind the respective number. An illustration, however, can show the respective part in an assembly position, or in such a way that all essential details of it become obvious.

In practice the user can look at an illustration and be directed to the corresponding parts list entry as soon as possible. This efficiency is due to sensitive regions on the illustration that react to a simple click of the mouse. These sensitive regions are called hotspots.

When the user clicks with the mouse pointer on such a hotspot, a link is executed. However, links can also function in a bi-directional manner. A click on a parts list entry can highlight its corresponding part in an illustration.
